The Premier's Youth Advisory Committee

The Premier's Youth Advisory Committee provides a forum to ensure youth are engaged. Committee members provide advice to the Premier and the Provincial Government on issues important to youth. Members also advise the Minister responsible for the Office of Public Engagement on youth perspectives, and provide input into developing government policies, programs, and services.

The committee is made up members between the ages of 16 and 29. Members are chosen from all areas of the province. Consideration is also given to gender, rural, and Aboriginal status.

Members serve a term from one to three years. Members attend one meeting annually in person, while other meetings will be held via teleconference or video conference.

The Latest:

Already this fall, members of the Premier’s Youth Advisory Committee reviewed and endorsed the launch of Outlook 2025 and were present for the launch of the Draft Open Government Action Plan, on which they will be providing feedback in the coming weeks. Later this fall, the committee will provide their input on the Workforce Development Action Plan, will participate in consultations hosted by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development on the current high school graduation requirements, and will give a presentation based on their experiences as part of the ongoing cross-province public consultations on the status of public education in the province.

In addition, the committee’s work in ten project teams continue. Team members are meeting with relevant departments and stakeholders to shape recommendations to the government from a youth perspective. Work of these project teams currently include issues of LBGTQ+ and mental health supports, career guidance and planning, and accessing post-secondary education.
